Hey Josh, I just had another good cry. The first was in India when Linda emailed me to say you had died. I quit smoking the next day. The next time, when I saw your folks again at our 15th reunion, and I could feel their sorrow and longing, and it transferred to me. Your mom gave the most beautiful, loving, spontaneous acceptence speech for that award. And now, as I sit here at my desk in New Orleans, trying to write a book and I can't seem to make the words come flowing through, and you're singing "Waiting to be" and it's hitting home and I am crying and feeling grateful for the support and the reminder. Thank you Josh. Thanks for your parting gift to us all. You always had the right energy for making people feel good. I'm glad our paths crossed my friend -- and perhaps I'll run into you on the other side. Erik

I saw the piece on Good Morning America and I was touched enough to buy the CD. But I didn't expect to be so moved by it. I absolutly love it. It is truely a horrible waste of talent that Josh is gone. He was a great artist. God bless his family and thanks to Josh for sharing with the world. Kara

Thank you, Josh, and thank you, Josh's family and friends. I read a glowing review of STG on a web log a few weeks ago and began listening to it online pretty often. I was delighted (and somewhat surprised) when I found a copy of it in Border's last week and I couldn't pass it up. IT IS PERFECT. Really. "Too Cool For This World" and "Waiting To Be" are my favorites but it's one of those albums that is excellent and meaningful from start to finish. Thanks again. Sara

I met Josh at the USIW(Universal Society of the Integral Way) annual retreat in Goleta, CA in Sept, 1997. At that time I had never heard of him or his music. I was the MC for the Saturday evening entertainment portion of the retreat. This consisted of music, juggling, comedy, and other amusements. Towards the end of the evening I asked if anybody else would like to come up and be entertaining. Josh came up and asked if he could borrow my guitar and play a song. As he looked out at us (about 80 people), he told us he was nervous even though he said he was used to playing in front of much larger crowds. Then he proceeded to tell us about a trip he had taken(to Ireland, I believe) where he observed a kid on a train. And then he played the song. Towards the end of the song he invited us to sing a long to the chorus, and 80 happy people were singing, "There's a kid on the train, there's a kid on the train". Josh made a lot of friends and fans that night. I'm just one of them. Sincerely, Neil Malley

I watched the GMA story on Josh last week, and I was incredibly moved. He truly is an inspiration. His story made me realize that if you want something bad enough, anything is possible. I am listening to "Already gone" and I find myself starting to cry. My sincerest condolences go out to Josh's family and friends. I hope they can find comfort knowing that his beautiful music has touched so many.

I'm Josh's sister, and I can't begin to describe to you how much it means to me and to all our family that Josh's music and his spirit has reached all the wonderful people who have been kind enough to write in. It is quite incredible, and truly uplifting. Thank you so much for keeping Josh alive in your hearts. I also wanted to let you know that the lyrics to all the songs on "Spirit Touches Ground" are on the web site in the "Spirit Touches Ground" section. We are having friends transcribe the music as well. We are so glad you've found your way to this web site, and to the community that has come together here. With love, Josh's sister Laura

I saw a story on Josh on either MTV, MTV2, or VH1 (not really sure which one) and I was intrigued. I bought "Spirit Touches Ground". The very day I listened to it, I became an instant fan. I am a very lyrics-orientated person and Josh certainly fits the bill. (Normally I listen mostly to the Counting Crows.) I just went on CD baby and ordered his other 2 CDs they had in stock and asked about the 3rd. I am very saddened for the world's loss of Josh Clayton-Felt. I would've have made every effort to follow his career and see live performances. I hope, at the very least, the word gets around and more people get to experience the talents of this man who was definately too cool for this world. I will do my part in spreading the word. I will miss hearing new music in the future. I do look forward to future postings on this web site. Thank you to whomever made the efforts to finally get this last CD released. In dealing through your pain and sorrows, you have given us a very precious gift. Thank you.

I caught Josh's story on GMA and had to order the CD. Just received the CD and was totally blown away! Wow, what a talent. I am so sad to know we will not hear any more of Josh's beautiful music. I'm sharing the CD with all my family and friends, (my 7 year old daughter now plays it before falling asleep) All my thoughts and prayers to Josh's family and friends. You are beautiful, thanks for sharing Josh's music and life with us.

In the mid 90s, I was the Music Director and Station Manager of the college radio station at Arizona State. School of Fish was on tour supporting Human Cannonball, and they came to the station for an on-air interview. Later that night after the concert, I pointed to Sun Devil Stadium and mentioned to Josh that someday they'd be playing there. (Sun Devil Stadium seats 70,000+ and is the featured stadium in the U2 documentary "Rattle 'n' Hum.") Josh just laughed as if he wasn't interested in playing there. I didn't understand it at the time, but I do now. I just found out today about his death. I didn't even know about his solo career. Thanks to CDNow, they featured "Spirit Touches Ground" as a new release this week. I hope I still have the interview I did with School of Fish in '94 or '95 on tape. I will look for it tonight. In the meantime, if you missed the Good Morning America story, you can read the transcript at: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/GMA/GoodMorningAmerica/GMA020212_JoshClayton.html Like Josh said, "For all my relations..." -Brent

Wolf will be in receipt of what I know you would give and I hope that it helps to make ends meet. I will spend my birthday with Descendants of the Earth and know you will join us.     it is true- We can feel your spirit. YOur voice brings chills to my spine, you were too cool, Josh. I can feel your soul in your music, you are still with us, your reflection, your soul, its still with us. The powers that be took you away too soon, but I feel you in your music. You will be heard, all over the world. I will start a crusade for you, in your memory. God Bless you, your family. Thank you for gracing us with your sweeet sounds. You are missed.

I bought my copy of STG today, after lots of virtual listening online. It has become my favorite CD and I think I almost know all the words already. I was glad that the recording was nice and clear and clean, better than what I could hear with my computer speakers. I also emailed my local radio station and asked if they would play the CD so others can know about this great music. Others should do the same with their local stations. I know if people were aware of it, many would love to purchase it. All the songs are really melodic and interesting. Josh really was so talented and I am grateful to have discovered his music! I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to access the lyrics? I'd hoped they would have been included with the CD. I was thinking it said to check this site online for the lyrics, but don't see them in the topics. Maybe I've just overlooked them...

...I first received this CD by accident. Like every CD that crosses my desk, I gave it a listen (being the open-minded person that I like to think I am). Truly a poetic and creative soul. Talent like his will be sorely missed by the music community. It's hard not to like him and imagine what he would have been like in person by just listening to his music. His spirit truly touches all that listen... Jr "The Crowd"

This will be the first time I have dropped a note since my friend Josh has moved on to grace a different place. I am most thankful for being able to spend quality time with him as we both traveled down the highways of America. I came to love and respect the man as he showed me a part of my life I never knew exsisted. I became a much more sensitive and rounded person for having known JCF.I was going through problems of my own when I was told of his passing and suddenly ny issues were non exsistant. My biggest regret was not having enough time to come and pay my respect with the rest of his friends and family. I felt close to Josh and has spoken with him only a few months prior. I had no idea. That was the hardest thing to deal with the sudden impact of it all. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him and how he touched my life both with music and his inner self. To all his friends and family please forgive me for not being there for support at a time that was most important. This much you should know for sure : I loved Josh and he was a beautiful and talented human being.

you've been in my dreams the last two nights josh. i just came across some pictures we took together. i also found something i wrote two years ago- which kind of helps me since it has been so bittersweet this past week........ Paradise beckons it's beautiful son... the tears that are falling from the earth are being gathered together and sprinkled over heaven making purple flowers bloom...preparing for the arrival of a new angel. as the sun beams-rainbows appear leaving a path for him to follow. I'm sure it is all familiar to him-his heart and soul have long embraced this place-his music tells us so. His inner light was as bright as any star in the sky-it enveloped his heart and made it sing. Joy -hope- love for those whose path he crossed. It is clear that his footprints of many colors are gifts to be cherished. Our friend is free. At peace... he is positioned high in the sky. His spirit soars...he joins the angels-no longer needing to fly on the wings of a dragonfly...for now his own strong wings are open wide taking him to places where everything is beautiful and safe. How lucky we were to have him on earth...how lucky heaven is today.

This message is simple and time sensitive and urgent and simple. There is a chance to achieve two of Josh's dreams in the same few weeks. His music is getting out there and I encourage everyone to share it, it sold on Amazon.com between Dave Matthews and Shrek - awesome. And those proceeds are going to some great causes that are on a national scale. In the meantime, Josh's prayer that the DESCENDANTS of the EARTH find a land base to continue their teachings of the Native American Way is here, now- actually, right now. They must make Escrow by the 25th - and some funding has fallen through. so here's the deal - I urge you, read Josh's letter about them under "Words from Josh", then send a tax deductible donation ASAP to D.O.E., Box 301, Ventura, CA 93002...it is tax deductible and a beautiful thing to do. We have nine days...thank you....Jeff Rosenthal....

As with many of the messages I've read in the archives, I loved School of Fish but somehow got caught up in the hustle and bustle of what I was told was "life" and left the band behind, with so many other things of importance. I only wish I'd begun rediscovering Josh's music earlier. Catching up now is joyful sadness, if you know what I mean. In a few turns of the wheel, perhaps "catching up" with Josh will be a bit more literal, although he's way ahead of me in the dharma department. Namasté!

I was deeply saddened to know that an artist that I had admired since my early days of college (1991) had passed away so suddenly. I too learned of Josh's untimely passing as many of us did from "The Good Morning America" show and it broke my heart. In our busy life we seem to lose contact and touch with friends, family, and persons that remind us of better days. Josh's music is one of those things in my life that lets me know I've had better days. I still smile like a child when I hear some of his old tunes on the radio. It gives me comfort to know that while I was busy in my own life, he was stayed devoted to his music through out the ups and downs he faced. Josh's last album will stand as testament to a soul that was "too cool for this world". God Bless him, his family, and friends. And thank you for releasing his album posthumously.-CB

It seems whenever i hear about Josh and/or listen to his music i feel both great joy and saddness at the same time. When i finally heard that he passed away, the middle of last year, all i could do was cry. I was upset that such an amazing artist would never be able to put anymore of themselves out there. Also i was upset for a selfish reason too, that i would never be able to hear anymore music from him. He touched me with out me ever being able to meet him and tell him what his music has done for me. But hopefully he knows that he was special to so many people. I feel very privaledged to be able to hear his last recordings though. He seemed like a sweet sweet man that had many tresures and i feel blessed to be able to experience a small part of him. He will always be in my thoughts. Thank you for allowing me to express how i feel Josh

I had the opportunity to see Josh live on the night Inarticulate Nature Boy was released. I had never heard his music before and I had his music in my head for the next week until I bought the CD. Well, right after this purchase, I fell into some tough times and his music became the soundtrack for that particular period in my life. It's great to see how many others he has touched, the world will miss this truly gifted person. Thank you Josh.

Wow. Yes, I believe spirit has touched ground. Josh, I never knew you while you were here, but I know I feel your spirit, through the friends whose lives you touched, and whose lives are now so blessedly touching mine. I am inspired -- my heart breaking wide open to the sound of truth, through this amazing CD and the love shared because of it. Like a phoenix from the ashes of this earthly plane, your spirit soars on the wings of love, singing it's thrilling song. I am lifted. Thank you so much.

well, as fate would have it, I was just standing in the music store on my daughters birthday...(2-12) and a dear friend came up to say hello...which detained me in this particular section of music...when she reached for her selection ...I saw Josh's CD and the flood of energy is inexplicable....I clutched it immediatley and thanked her for detaining me...asked the clerk how long it had been released and she said.."that just came out today ..." so, my daughter's 11th birthday was spent...rather warmly, with Josh Clayton-Felt..wonderful music and a few tears...Dragonfly, I can not make it through yet without crying...and I love backwards world ...had to listen to that twice ...once in the car and continued on into the house. I'm only sad now that I missed all these promotional things everyone is writing about...nevertheless, I actually kind of like the way IT found me. Thank you Josh for filling my ears with wonderful sound and my body with tingling energy.."It you want to get through to the otherside let the dragonfly...come and give you a ride...." funny thing, as coincidence would have it ...right after my cd purchase we had dinner and the light above our table happened to be none other than a green dragonfly stained glass...everything is so beautifully connected in this world and I am so glad Josh made such realizations before he left this planet....and I am glad that he can touch my life through his music while I am still on it...

Hi, I live on the island of Aruba, and when I heard part of a song played on GMA yesterday morning, I was moved by it. The piece they did on Josh's story, music career, and the way he was portrayed by the people who loved him, made me think a lot about what life is all about. It's a shame, he is not here with us anymore, as he would have been a great artist. Today, I will go and let some CD-places order his CD for me, as I would want to hear him more and more. I know he will be greatly missed, but I am also sure that his memory will live on, through his music.

this is a beautiful day. i just got back from buying your cd josh- i'm listening to it right now. "kid on the train " is on. i remember when you were telling me the story about this song-it doesn't seem that long ago that we were in that amazing house in ireland sitting there with three layers of clothes on because it was so cold & you were sitting in front of the fireplace playing your guitar & singing, what are now some of the songs on "spirit touches ground." i am so overwhelmed by this day. you are a constant inspiration and will be forever...i am so happy that the world will now get to share and experience the amazing gift that all of your friends & family have been blessed with-you & your extraordinary music...you are a "shining star".... "your song "spirit touches ground" just came on- i need to go crank it up & rock out! love you...

My mother saw the GMA show. She called me as she usually does when she finds something interesting. I am touched by all these peoples responses. This is a great person and this shows that everyone can touch peoples hearts. People just need to start living everyday with a smile and a different color each day. I lost a very special girl named Megans Sims in September of 2000. She had such a beautiful soul with an amazing musical talent. Her soul crystal is very bright and I can see that Josh's is too. I know they have met in another place. Notice and Love Everyone and make sure your soul crystals glow brightly. Peace and Love to Everyone, Adam

Oops, sorry to GMA for confusing them with the Today show. I read some of the comments after making mine and it was interesting to see that others noticed the similarity in Josh's music with the sound of Lennon. It is a very poetic music, with nice lyrics and melodies.

I heard about Josh and his music this morning on the Today Show. I think it is wonderful that his music was finally released and was able to get produced. I just listened to the virtual CD and he was very talented. It is good that he was able to find his gift and be able to use it while he was here, something many people never achieve in their lifetimes.

I saw GMA this morning and Josh's story touched my heart. I too felt a need to own his CD, his music is beautiful. It is so sad that someone with so much talent that was so full of life had to die so young. Hopefully thought his gift of music he will be with us for a long time to come. I want to thank his friends and family for sharing his story and touching my heart. I too know how hard it is to lose someone to cancer at a young age, my father died in 2000 of cancer at the age of 43. So may God bless Josh's family, friends and fans.

How can one person touch so many others from beyond is inexplicable, but Josh does. I know so many people who knew him, or knew someone who knew him that it's not even funny how it all comes together, so if you are ever scared or lonely just look at the trail of light one man left behind and know there are no endings, just beginnings...

I saw Josh's story this morning on GMA. Years ago, when I was still an L.A. scenester I was in a club with my friend Janet Thompson, also an L.A. scenester. She left me for a few minutes to greet a friend. Upon her return she said she was just talking to JCF (at the time he was still with School of Fish). Janet remarked to me at the time that Josh was the sweetest, nicest guy she ever met and was so sincere in her remarks that the moment stuck with me all these years. Has a stranger's death ever effected you in a way you could never anticipate? Yes. I know this to be true because Josh's death effected me in a surprising way. When I heard of his passing I thought "there goes one of the nicest, sweetest guys" and I was truly saddened. And to think that these traits were attributed to him years before his death. To me that means he must have truly been one of the nicest, sweetest guys. My heart goes out to all that loved him and embraced his music. Even though I did not know him personally, I loved his music and truly believe that he was the "nicest and sweetest guy." His music proves it. Peace.

I check josh's site every few days or so, mostly to read other people's comments about him and his music. knowing today is the day that spirit does indeed touch ground, I figured there would be a select few comments posted by the hardcore fans who went out and bought the album this morning. but HOLY COW I am blown away by all the people who saw GMA and decided to post here! unfortunately, I didn't find out about the segment until I arrived here. as I sit here and read all the AWESOME comments my eyes are watering up. I'm floored! it's like I've dreamt this all before, hoping someday that it would come true: that if mass quantities of people were exposed to his music, magic would happen! it seems that everyone who is touched by his story is also equally touched by his music. that is the most awesome thing! for those of you looking to find some of his live music, please check the "order CDs" section to get "felt like making a live record". that is probably the best live album I've ever heard. and if any of you have doubts about spirit touches ground...just go buy it! all your doubts will disappear! every single song on it is incredible! anyone, feel free to email me if you want to chat about josh's music. I'm always open for a discussion : ) ps, whatever happened to the inarticulate discussion emailing list? we need that back! pps, I am going to email GMA and let them know to check out this message board so they're aware of how many people josh's story touched.

Well, I am not surprised that Josh's story has affected so many "strangers"...actually, the truth is, I am blown away. I was so afraid the album would come out and only the devoted few (thousand) would know about it. Josh is my very oldest and best friend and we were like brothers...and none of you are "strangers" anymore. I want everyone to know that a portion of Josh's record sales will be going to the Nature Conservancy and Save the Music, two beautiful organizations that speak to Josh's spirit...I have sooo much more to say...thank you so much, buddy...there is so much love because of you, Josh...oh, yeah, and what percentage of people writing in are women!?! The charismatic curly-haired guy still can charm 'em. Buy the record, support the message and the music...he never cared about the money he just wanted people to smile more and be kind. And get ready for the JCF Memorial Benefit Concert supporting the Descendants of the Earth coming this April. Love to all....Jeffy.....

I was among the many people to see the story on GMA this morning. The song that they played as his "hit single" gave me incredible chills. From just the small amount they played of that song, I was hooked. It's amazing to me that a man that was on the earth for such a small amount of time, was able to express what his soul sang so wonderfully. I wish I had known about him sooner. My heart and prayers and thoughts go out to the parents, friends and family who were lucky enough to know this soul while he was with us here on earth. In a small amount of humor, perhaps now that he's up there in Heaven, God will let him play the music as you enter the gates, eh? Much love to you all! I plan on buying the cd today. And I agree, if there are any live recordings out there from concerts he played or of that nature, I would be one to buy that as well! *hugz!* -Jess

I happened to catch GMA this morning, and couldn't leave for work until the piece was finished. It was a blast from the past -- I went to Brown at the same time as Josh. As a freshman, I remember seeing him and thinking that he was cute. I was crushed to hear he had left school in sophomore year to pursue his music. Over the years, I heard he was in the band School of Fish. I always wondered what happened to him. I was amazingly saddened to hear about his death, even though I did not know him at all. It was inspirational to see that he pursued his love of music, and I am happy for him that he was surrounded by people who loved him when he passed on. Also, experiencing the recent death of a close friend- I have no end of sympathy for all who knew him. I know I will be owning "Spirit Touches Ground" very soon- and the three others if I can get my hands on them.     I watched the segment on Good Morning American about Josh and his music today. I was inspired to go to the website and listen to segments of the whole CD being released today. I have always loved music and have encouraged this love of music in my two sons by involving them in music lessons. I, too, have a son who plays guitar and a son who plays piano. It always touches my heart to see them practicing because music is a great way to express yourself. I forwarded the website information on to my son, Brandon, who also plays guitar and is studying architecture at a university in our home state and to his friend Aaron who is like my second son. I am sure they will be inspired. I am planning to purchase the CD and, even though Josh's life on earth has ended, through the music he has left, he will live on forever. I pray that God will continue to bless Josh's family and friends. Sincerely, Kim Henneke-Singer

I just saw the morning show about Josh. I have two young sons, and want to pass along to Josh's mother how apparent it is to all what a wonderful job you did raising your son. That he had so much love that he was ready to give back is testimony of how much he was given. You can hear in his voice how loved he felt. "Dragonfly" is an example, one of many. Watching Josh's girlfriend, how her face lit up as she spoke about him, she spoke with such strength and intelligence. They were lucky to have found each other. I have the firm belief that the future of humanity depends on men finding a way to open the door to sensitivity and expression. I think Josh's family, friends and fans would all agree that indeed, Josh's "Spirit Touches Ground."

I was sadden this morning when I was watching GMA to have found out Josh died. When I was 21, I went and saw School of Fish in concert. The band was just hanging out in front of the concert hall( we arrived early ) To my surprise I was able to meet him and shake his hand, He was so nice. It was truly an honor to met him. Their music was a big part of my early 20s. I still play their tape, my favorite song was "Three strange days", ( All of them were great though ). I had always wondered what happened to him. So when I found out this morning that he pasted on, I was heart sick. I am thankful he left behind more music, and I will go out and by it. His voice was truly a gift from god! I am so sorry to his family for their loss...Linda

I was so touched by the story on GMA. I lost my best friend suddenly in 1998 and am so aware of the feeling of loss. However, I am also aware that the only way to avoid the feeling of loss was never to have had the feeling of love...we wouldn't want that, would we?

I got to know Josh a bit when he was living in Boston and he left a strong impression on me. I guess it was in '98. My friend was playing bass for him and I went to see the show. I must admit I was a little skeptical because I wasn't a huge School of Fish fan. I immediately connected to his new music. Josh was doing a residency at a small club and ended up going each week (an acoustic project I had going opened one of the shows). Josh really did have a mysterious charisma. For awhile I had a dub of his non released record that included some of the songs from "Sprit." I really loved the tunes. The last time I saw Josh my band was on tour in LA and I ran into him at "White Trash Wins Lotto." He was really full of energy for the new recordings he had just finished (I've been excited to hear them ever since). I asked if he wanted to come out and see one of my band's show the next two nights. He said, "yes, definitely, but I have to go to the doctor tomorrow. My back has really been bothering me." That was the last I ever spoke with him. Thanks to whoever is keeping Josh's music alive because he was a really special person.

Josh, You don't know me, but I'm a friend of Sam's. And just recently I became quite a fan of yours. Over the past year or so, I've heard stories and seen pictures. He loves you very much, and sometimes it's hard for him when I ask questions. Other times the stories come easily, follwed by "this is one of my favorites" or "I was there when he recorded this" and your wonderfully sweet voice. I met several of your friends yesterday at a release party for "Spirit Touches Ground." You left quite a mark on some truly good people. I played with Kaya for a while. That sweet, sweet doggie gets love at every turn. It was a perfect day, and the sun shone so warmly the whole time. I wore a skirt for the first time this year, which pleased me. People exchanged memory after memory. I tell you, the celebration of you is a thing of dreams. Jeff with the broken leg asked if it was weird for me to be there, at a party for a guy I never knew. But it wasn't. Sam has done you justice, and it's easy to care about you and your music with the portrait he's painted. He cut a video from photos and old footage of you. I think it's wonderful, although he feels strange about it. It's fun for me to finally see you singing your songs. I have to tell you, I love the album. And I love the trumpet on "Backwards World." It's so sweetly hopeful, with a bit of melancholy for things known. I'm always begging friends of mine to put horns in some of their songs. And your lyrics are fantastic. I'm having such a time singing along and rewinding and singing along some more. You understood it the way few people do. I'm doing what I can to help your family and friends spread the word about the album. Hopefully I can help. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you, as I'm certain I would have liked you a lot. But it's no secret that the world would be a different place were you still here. You remind me of some dear friends of mine. The friends I cling to because they remind me of where I came from and who I am. I think you do that for some of the folks I met yesterday. Back at Sam's apartment, I told him that he's friends with good people. In one of his rare sentimental moments, he smiled to himself, then at me and said "I know." Everyone seems certain that you'd be pleased with the way things are working out, and I hope so. They love you, and it's such a wonderful thing to see. I'm glad to have shared yesterday afternoon with it. I suppose I'll meet you one day. Until then, I thank you for the music. Your friend, Colleen

I was lucky enough to play bass with Josh in a band called "The Boon" when he had just moved to L.A. I was saddened to hear of his passing. I prefer to cerebrate his music rather than mourn him. I received an advance CD of "Spirit Touches Ground" recently and the songs are some of his best work. I was especially moved by his ballads, "Too Cool for This World", "Half Life", & "Already Gone." I thought these songs were written by Josh after learning of his terminal condition even though they probably were not. The STG CD has so much heart and love that I've played it every day and it makes me feel better. In any case he was one of the best songwriters I've worked with. He always did the kind of music he wanted to do, rather than chase whatever music was trendy. Anyway I wanted Josh's fan club leader and family to know that I have 2 tapes by Josh. One is a studio demo with "The Boon" and the other is a solo acoustic performance he taped for me so I could come up with bass lines for his songs. I you would like to make the tapes available to the above listed people. It contain song that were on none of his studio recording. He was a talented songwriter and his music will live on forever.

I was introduced to Josh while he did a little tour with Tori. He made a comment about not being able to afford to bring a band with him on tour. I was blown away by his talent un-plugged....so much that I bought his cd at the end of the concert. I took it home and played it. WOW! His genius with instruments was the more impressive. I flipped through the lyrics and fell in-love. Unfortunately that was the only cd I knew was available. I've played Inarticulate Nature Boy for friends over the last few years...and all have come to really enjoy his music. I still have the same cd I bought that night. Josh's music still carries this girl through her days. I'm sorry he left this world so soon, but he shared a greatness with me and I'll never forget it.

I had the honor of meeting Josh when I was maybe 16. His band School Of Fish opened for the divinyl's at Rocky Point (an amusement park in Rhode Island). To this day I have loved that band not thinking that he had passed on I feel like a peice of me that I had forgotten about is now lost. I never imagined that he had left us. I can see his smile and I can remember exactly how I felt talking to him. He was beautiful to me and he didn't treat me like a child even though I was. I can still hear him singing Father Figure, I think my heart is really sad but at least I can stil hear his music and remember him doing what he did best. I am sorry that he left so early and he will be missed. I feel I have to go home to get my tapes since I left them at my Mom's when I moved out. I still have the t shirt that the band signed and now I am so glad that I kept it. He will truly be missed and if my friends didn't know him before I will make sure they wil now. I just wish they could have seen him shine on stage like I got to.

As I was filtering through various websites tonight, I came upon a link about Josh's new album. A huge fan of Inarticulate Nature Boy, I was shocked and shattered at the news that he has passed. I felt angry with myself for not following his career more closely after seeing him open for Tori Amos in 199?. After hearing him that night, I bought his CD at the show and have listened to it often ever since. My thoughts and hopes are with his family. He was a truly gifted voice and a wonderful soul.

I feel so awful because I grew up with School Of Fish and Actually opened up for them with my old band at Old Clamity Janes in Las Vegas Nevada.I I never heard of them or anything until that night, and I was totally blown away. There was all of about 40 people there, they played with all heart and soul even if front of such a small crowd for such a big place. It was on a weekday that is probably why there was such a small crowd. But all the less I was in Awe of this siple but beautiful real music that was coming my way. It was one of those moments you just savor and never forget. When I heard "Euphoria" it was like it was already in my soul and the same with "Fell" And every other song was just so real and pure I was so amazed. Before the show I got to talk to Josh after they did a sound check we had just pulled up. I just sat and watched there sound check and couldn't believe these guys were playing after us. He was so polite and mellow, and we chatted for about 10 minutes about music. I told him I was very impressed with there sound, it had a distintive sound and very captivating. He just smiled and said thanks with his hands in his pocket kind of shy and playful like a happy kid just wanting to play. You could see that music was in him. I had also talked to Micheal the Guitar palyer who was extremely talented also very cool, and also Dominic the Bassist all nice guys and wonderful musicians. I'm honest and I will say the drummer MP was quite the unpleasant fellow when I was asking about his drum triggering abilities he kind of just looked at me like I was some joke. I couldn't quite equate how he was with these total musicians and had such a bad demeanor. Maybe he had a bad day...... Anyway back to the music and the semi-story. After that soundcheck I called my girlfriend at the time and told her you have to check out these guys. She came down and we fell in love with there music and it was a ritual to listen to it every day. I fell out of touch with the band after the second album all though I still love it. And eventually I moved on in my music life and started with the electronic thing which I do love but I love all music. I still listened to School of Fish years later and turned so many friends on to them. However I had health problems and went through my battle,God willing Im still alive. It's not a fun trip to be sick and fighting for your life I know that, but Im sure Josh had a smile such as I. I was quite shocked to learn only today when I popped in Self Titled Debut Album that Josh had passed on. I was so shocked because I had on the album and looked them up for the first time in about 6 years bad memories from the album....Good and Bad.....You know the feeling of lost love. I geuss I moved on finally in my life and gave it a spin. I was so shocked when I read he passed in 2000, I just started crying and couldn't stop for some reason. I felt so bad but I know Josh is in a better realm, sent away to give more beauty to life. His music was true and real and from the heart. He will be missed greatly by myself and I will think of him more now with a smile.
