I actually went into my local record store to replace a cd I had lost and came across this one at a listening station, I listened to the first 20 seconds of the first song and immediatly bought it. After reading that he had passed on it reminded me a lot of jeff buckley so I decided to read about it on the net. He truly seemed like a very beautiful person and was very talented. I can see how he ca be deepley missed. My condolences go out to his family...

I didn't know Josh very well. I hung out with him at a dive bar in Dallas, Texas after his band opened up for Paul Westerberg. I have thought about him off and on ever since. His personality was so bright and sincere. We played pool and he broke. He began to make one ball after another. His excitement level was skyrocketing. He kept saying in amazement "I've never made all my balls on the first try!" He was glowing, big smile on his face getting bigger with every shot he made. by the last ball he had, he was practically jumping out of his skin, and literally jumping up and down. I remember this moment so vividly, maybe it was because of his sweetness and sincerity, or because of the thrill he was getting. I remember getting excited with him, wanting him to do it, to beat me in one turn. I'll never forget that smile, and that wild hair he kept trying to tuck behind his ears. Today I read in of all magazines, Sound and Vision, that Josh had passed away. Even though I only hung out with him for a few hours, I became very upset. I realize after reading some of the letters that he had a positive effect on many people, and I am one of them. My thoughts go out to all those who were close to him. I feel lucky to have known him for that brief moment.

MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING is a sweet film by a dear friend of mine. The movie is dedicated to Josh. The film's star, Nia Vardalos is a friend of mine and became a friend of Joshy's, as he and I would share our worlds. Mine; comedy, his; music. When she asked if I thought it would be okay if the film were dedicated to Josh, I could see him blush up in the sky. Josh - You know what's going on in my world and I ask you here as I do from my kitchen and in my car to please give me guidance...I love you. Jeffy. PS - The Sox are in town and Gary Goetzman gave me box seats cause I know you and Nia, thanks.

hey hey---just a quick note to say hi; my best friend and his girlfriend left for Costa Rica for 8 months a few days ago, and when he's in town we always steal away and drive to a park overlooking the city and play music and talk. Since this last time a few weeks ago was gonna be the last for a while, we stayed a bit longer and ended with "Waiting to Be". That one's appropriate for both of us--i'm in a whole new life mode right now, and so are Aaron and Jenn, and there's been some fear for both of us for what's coming up, but we're happy and excited...and that song said what we wanted and needed. By the way, it sounds best with the sunroof open, looking up at the stars! Thanks, josh (in t

Josh- You have to see my 78 year old mother singing "There's a Kid on the Train." Oh, wait, you can. And I am sure you enjoy it as much as I. Keep an eye on me. CJD

I have been listening to Josh's music since I was first introduced to Spirit Touches Ground on the Good Morning America piece when the C.D. was released. I ordered it from a local record store and immediately fell in love with it. The CD is so aptly named....not just because of the song STG, but because that is exactly what listening to Josh is like. You don't just "hear" his music, you can feel it! At first I thought I was a little wierd because of how much of a connection I have felt to Josh through his music. But I read messages from so many other people who are having similar experiences. I think the only explanation is that in addition to being a very gifted musician with a beautiful voice, Josh was, and is, an exceptional soul with such a strong spirit that he left a little of it on his music as a gift to remind us all that we are, above all, spirit. With that said, I will get to the point that I wanted to make when I started this message. For those of you who haven't had a chance to look at the "order cd's" section of this site, I would encourage you to do so. I have bought Josh's other 3 c.d.'s (Inarticulate Nature Boy was no small feat since it is out of production at the moment..... but thanks to EBay and a couple of attempts at sending money to Singapore, I finally have it.) They are all very different from each other, but they are all great. Now instead of going through all of the songs on STG and having a new "favorite" every day, I can do that 4 times as often. So many of the messages from people on this site seem to have that common theme of sadness that they never knew about Josh and his music until now. (I know for me it is missing someone I never knew...a very strange experience I must say) I just wanted to point out that there is more great music of Josh's music out there. Peace to all. Alisa

I was so touched by Josh's music and his story. I purchased my copy of Spirit Touches Ground and was blown away by his yearning, optimism and love of life. You can hear it all over this album...from Backwards World, Too Cool For This World, Love, Sweet Love to Building Atlantis. His essence is palpable.....And although I never knew him personally, I am happy to have been able to get to know him now, thru his music. And I would like to thank his family for giving me the opportunity to do so. The music and his story has touched my heart greatly and reminded me of what's important in life. And, I consider it a gift. Anyone who is interested in reading the article I wrote commemorating his life, please go to: http://www.geocities.com/allareaaccess/joshclayton-felt.html Deana

Hi Josh - I gave birth to a baby boy on April 20th, 2002. He was born one hour into Taurus (I wonder if you had something to do with that??). His name is Bodhi and I know you would really dig him. He's an old soul; a friend of yours???? He almost didn't make it: eight days in the ICU. But we felt your loving, healing energy and I thought about you a lot while I was there. Love you so much and miss being able to share this with you my friend. xxx Nicky

I am sorry to say that I just heard about Josh. I was looking for a theme song on the WB and they had an article about Josh. So I went to look him up and I hate myself for not knowing him sooner. I listened to some of his music and plan to go out and buy it. I really feel that somehow it was meant for me to hear him. I am so glad that the family has continued to let the rest of the world hear his work. I had a cousin that wrote music and never made it. I wish that his family would do the same. Thanks Josh for the good cry. I know now that there are still good people out there. Thanks for you spirit!!!!
