04/25/02 The Third Annual Josh Clayton-Felt Memorial Benefit for the Descendants of The Earth was held on April 25th at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood. By the end of the four plus hour concert, a capacity crowd experienced over twenty musicians performing songs either written or inspired by Josh. Some of the highlights included Donna DeLory's East-Asian influenced renditions of Dragonfly and Too Cool For This World, Renee Stahl's rousing version of Deer In The Headlights, Chad Fischer and Larry Goldings teaming up on What Good Is Heaven and Backwards World, Colin Hay's performance of Dear J, a School Of Fish reunion with Michael Ward performing Three Strange Days and Euphoria, and many other inspired performances invoking the spirit of Josh. The evening also included a silent auction of paintings, drawings, prints and photographs from many nationally recognized artists including, Joe Sorren, Garry Baseman and Joel Nakamura whose dragonfly painting is featured on the in- sleeve of Spirit Touches Ground. Soon we will be posting information here about the performers-- who played, what they played, and how to reach them." |

12/01/01 In order to release Spirit Touches Ground at the most favorable time, DreamWorks has chosen February 12 as the release date. This is a very exciting time as many people are gearing up and some are already hard at work on the numerous tasks involved in bringing out a new album. Around December 12, we'll get in touch with area coordinators and we will begin to share ideas with everyone about how they can help. Communications of this type will be posted in the Spirit Touches Ground section, on the Campaign Bulletin Board. We'll do a brief announcement on the home page when campaign news first begins to be posted. With much excitement-- Josh's Family

Unreleased CD update, new cd info. The Unreleased Cd, now called Beautiful Nowhere", will be ready for shipping to you within two weeks-ish!!! Availible here or at gigs. Also The TOO long Awaited CD, "At The Center Of Six" (and it's title may still change), is down to a few weeks before mixing. I got tired of waiting for it to be freed from the hands of the old Record Co. and decided to re-record it so that I'd have the masters right here. In the meantime a subsidiary of my old label has asked to release it again. We'll see how that goes, but happily, the CD is comming out far better than the first version, so I'll just say that it was all meant to be.!! When that CD is done, anyone who would like to help promote it should let me know, (you will recieve a kit and a very groovy gift). Or if you'd like to order a copy will be able to. I will be doing a nation wide mailing soon so make sure that I have both your Email as well as your regular address. I will be looking into touring behind it's release as well, and of course, I'll let you know. Ride on.... Josh

UNRELEASED CD COMING SOON I just came across a collection of songs that have never been released. All writen & recorded after leaving School of Fish, but before Inarticulate Nature Boy. One A&R man said, "This is too funky to release!" I say he's WRONG! What he meant was, too funky for him. But as all you folks have the groove, i'm making it available to you. Coming your way soon.

Hello out there Josh here. I know that you may have been wondering what has happened to me and my second CD, and I wanted to let you know. The CD is finished, and has been for some time. Some of you may have even heard songs from it at gigs I've been playing. However, when Universal Music dissolved A&M records, my old company, along with many others during a takeover, they dropped some 250 bands. I was one of those bands. That will have been quite an OK thing if....I can get them to give me either the rights to release the CD, or the right to re-record the songs. As of now it's still up in the air and I'm hoping that Universal Music will do the right thing - give me the music back in some way. Also, I'm hardly the only one this is happening to and it's important for music fans, as consumers to know that. I hope that pressure on the large record labels to be fair can somehow create a situation in which everybody wins. In the meantime I am half-way through writing my next record, and I will be both focusing on that, and trying to find a way to get the new CD to you. I welcome you to record my gigs, just don't let me know in case that would have some legal ramifications. I will be playing shows on both the east and west coasts as much, and as soon as possible, and I will be posting all that information here on the web site. Finally there is a project I'm putting together that you may have heard about. It will be a CD of artists who are in the same position as I am with my current record. By that I mean: I can not legally re-record my own songs from the new CD myself for five years (unless Universal Music gets groovy), but another artist could. So I am looking for other artists who have been "displaced" by the merger to work with in putting together the CD. (If this is you please leave an email address and/or phone number with any thoughts or suggestions.) We will each cover another's favorite, locked up, song, and release a CD with all of them. It's a way to get around this unfair situation, to be heard, and to share our music with you, the listener, which is all this is really for anyway. I am looking forward to this project and will keep you updated on it. I will also be more involved with this web stuff, so keep checking in and feel free to urge Universal Music on my behalf. Thanks for your support and appreciation of the music. As they say in the Native American way, "For all my relations"...That is, a prayer for a blessing on all of life, everywhere, and an acknowledgment of our total interconnected and oneness. Be well,
