Josh Clayton-Felt
Inarticulate Nature Boy (A&M)
Scott Hunter for Rock Love Magazine

Former School Of Fish lead singer Josh Clayton-Felt has emerged from months of being holed up in his L.A. home, with his first solo record, Inarticulate Nature Boy, in hand. On it, he plays many instruments that he never before played, so this is a true solo effort, where he performs all instruments and sings all vocals a la certain Todd Rungren projects.

Like many a Todd record, this is an album filled with luscious pop/rock gems. Disc opener "Window" which is also the first single, is a sprightly tune bathed in romantic r&b influenced beats like many Motown artists and current day wonders such as Lenny Kravitz or even Rock Love favorites Huge. "Soon Enough" is another diamond-in-the-rough, a pop tune which highlights Clayton-Felt's lofty vocal range.

There is an incredible propensity for soul all throughout Inarticulate Nature Boy, even on slower numbers like "Paint The Tree Green," a moving piece musically, which shows the sincerity in this artists' song writing. World beats permeate "What Do I Know," a delightful tune and other highlights include the title track and "Waiting."

On his solo debut, Josh Clayton-Felt clearly stands under a spotlight meant solely for him and he succeeds in blending 70's soul with 90's pop tenderness.
